Korea grants funds for Vietnam shrimp medicinal therapy

Quang Thuan

The government of the Republic of Korea has pledged a grant of US$2million to provide a Korean-produced drug to local shrimp breeders if trials in Vietnam succeed.

Gene Yo Ployein Co. from Korea has begun trials of the Shrimp Doctor medicine on aqua-farms in HCMC’s outlying district of Can Gio.

The medicine prevents shrimp diseases, stimulates growth, and can shorten breeding time, said Nguyen Xuan Loc, chairman of the board of directors of Huynh Hoa Co. – the distributor of Shrimp Doctor in Vietnam.

The medicine has been tested in Korea, China and Mexico, Mr. Loc added.
